목욕탕에서 따뜻한 물로 목욕을 하는 중 목욕탕 세균이 피부에 감염될 수 있다.

목욕을 한 2~5일 후 박테리아 감염성 피부염이 생길 수 있다.
피부에 농포, 가려운 구진, 붉고 누르면 아픈 소결절 등이 생길 수 있다. 이런 병을 온탕 모낭염이라고 한다.
때로는 열, 피곤, 림프절 비대 등 전신 증상을 동반하는 패혈증도 생길 수 있다.
이 병은 슈도모나스균(녹농균) 감염이나 포도상구균 감염으로 생길 수 있다.
젠타마이신이(Gentamicin)나 폴리믹신 B (Polymixin b)등 국소적 항생제 연고 도포로 치료할 수 있다.
때로는 경구용 Ciprofloxacin으로 치료 한다.

모낭에 생긴 염증을 모낭염이라 한다.
