- 특종의 모기에 물리면 말라리아에 감염 될 수 있다.
- 동남아시아, 아프리카의 사하라 지역, 중앙 남아메리카의 일부지역, 미국, 인도, 하이디, 뉴기니아, 오시아나, 서아프리카 등에서 말라리아가 주로 유행된다.
- 한국의 일정 지역에서도 말라리아가 발생될 수 있다.
- 구제제 DEET로 모기에 물리지 않게 예방한다.
- 항 말라리아 치료제 Chloroquine에 내성이 있는 말라리아나 악성 말라리아는 Mefloquine, Proguanil, 또는 Atovaquone 항 말라리아제로 예방 치료를 한다.
- 말라리아 백신이 개발 됐으나 몇 년 후 실용적일 것 같다.
