신생아들이나 영아들은 변비에 잘 걸리지 않는다.
신생아들이나 영아들이 대변을 볼 때 정상적으로 얼굴과 배에 힘을 잔뜩 주기도 하고 때로는 두 다리를 쭉 폈다 오므렸다 할 수 있고 얼굴을 붉히기도 한다.
대변 색이 순색이고 대변이 굳지 않고 물기가 적절하고 대변을 순하게 보면 변비가 아니다.
드물게 어떤 신생아나 영아가 가끔 변비에 걸릴 수 있다.
신생아들이나 영아들이 경미한 변비에 결렸을 때는 끓여 식힌 맹물을 우유병으로 30~60cc 정도 하루 한두 번 먹이든지, 케이로 시럽 한 티스푼을 탄 맹물을 우유병으로 하루에 한두 번 먹이면 대개 변비가 없어 질 수 있다.
그래도 변비가 계속 되면, 글리세린 좌약이나 글리세린 플리트 베이비 랙스, 또는 다른 종류의 영아용 변비 좌약을 처방에 따라 항문 속에 넣어 경미한 변비를 치료할 수 있다([부모도 반의사가 되어야 한다- 소아가정간호백과]-제21권 소아청소년 가정간호- 좌약 참조).
대변을 보려고 힘을 줄 때 항문 윤활 젤리를 묻힌 항문 체온계로 항문 체온을 재면 굳은 변이 쉽게 나올 수 있다.
때로는 수유모가 수분을 더 많이 섭취하고 모유 분비 양을 증가시키고 더 많은 양의 모유를 수유하든지, 또는 인공영양의 섭취량을 보통 때보다 조금 더 늘려 수유하면 변비가 치료될 수 있다.
그리고 변비의 원인이 무엇인지 알아 그 원인에 따라 치료한다([부모도 반의사가 되어야 한다- 소아가정간호백과]-제9권 소아청소년 소화기계 질환-변비증, 변비약 참조).

Constipation in newborn infants 신생아 변비

• Newborns and infants are less susceptible to constipation.

• When newborns or infants stool, they normally give a lot of power to their face and stomach, sometimes stretching their legs straight and closing, and sometimes blushing.

• If the stool is pure color, the stool is not hardened, the water is adequate, and the stool is mild, it is not constipation. • Rarely, some newborns or infants can sometimes become constipated.

• When newborns or infants suffer from mild constipation, feed boiled and cooled plain water with a milk bottle for 30-60cc once or twice a day, or feed freshwater with a teaspoon of kilo syrup with a milk bottle once or twice a day to avoid constipation.

• If constipation persists, glycerin suppositories, glycerin pleated baby lax, or other types of infant constipation suppositories can be put into the anus as prescribed to treat minor constipation ([Parents should also become at least half -doctors-Child and Family Nursing Encyclopedia). -Volume 21 Child and Adolescent Family Nursing-See suppositories).

• When you are stressed to stool, stiffened stool can easily come out by measuring the temperature of the anus with an anal thermometer moistened with anal lubricant jelly.

• Sometimes a nursing mother can treat constipation by consuming more fluids, increasing the amount of milk produced, and feeding more breast milk, or by increasing the amount of artificial nutrition a little more than usual.
