  • 신생아의 갑상선의 기능이 항진되고 그로 인해 갑상선 기능 항진증이 나타내는 병을 신생아 갑상선 기능 항진증이라고 한다.
  • 임신 중 그레이브스병 등으로 임신부에게 갑상선 기능 항진증이 생길 수 있지만 그런 병을 가지고 있는지 모르고 있던 임신부에게서 태어난 신생아나, 잘 치료되지 않은 갑상선 기능 항진증을 가진 임신부에게 태어난 신생아들에게 신생아 갑상선 기능 항진증이 생길 수 있다.[부모도 반의사가 되어야 한다–소아가정간호백과]-제14권 소아청소년 내분비 유전 대사 회귀병–갑상선 항진 참조)

신생아 갑상선 기능 항진증(신생아 그레이브스병)의 증상 징후

  • 태어난 후 24시간 이내에 신경이 예민하고 신체를 과도로 움직이고 손발이 떨리고 얼굴이 발적되고 비정상적으로 땀이 많이 나는 증상 징후가 생길 수 있다.
  • 과도히 많이 먹지만 체중이 잘 증가되지 않고
  • 안구 돌출현상이 생길 수 있고
  • 심장 빈맥증도 생길 수 있고
  • 목에 있는 갑상선이 비대될 수 있다.
  • 이런 증상 징후를 적절히 치료하지 않으면 생후 3~6개월 동안 지속될 수 있다. 

신생아 갑상선 기능 항진증(신생아 그레이브스병)의 진단

  • 임신 중 임신부에게 갑상선 기능항진증이 있었다는 사실, 증상 징후, 진찰소견, T4, T3, TSH, LATS 등 검사해서 진단한다.

신생아 갑상선 기능 항진증(신생아 그레이브스병)의 치료

  • Iodine, Propylthiouracil, 또는 Methimazole(Tapazole/Thiamazole/MMI) 등으로 치료한다.
  • 필요에 따라 산소호흡치료도 한다.
