소 좌 결장 증후군, Small left colon syndrome

원인은 확실히 모른다.
신경 호르몬의 불균형으로 이 병이 생긴다는 설도 있다.
좌 결장이 기능적으로 작아지고 거기에 기능적 장 폐쇄가 생길 수 있다.
생후 24-48 시간 내 생기는 것이 보통이다.
이 병이 있는 신생아의 50%는 당뇨병이 있는 임신부로부터 태어난 아기였고 또 저혈당증이 있는 신생아에게 이 병이 생길 수 있다.
복통, 구토, 복부 팽만 등의 증상 징후가 생기고 태어난 후 태변을 누지 못한다.
적절히 치료하지 않으면 이런 증상 징후가 계속 진전될 수 있다.
드물게는 장관 천공 그리고 복막염이 생길 수 있다.
병력, 증상 징후 검진, 복부 X선 검사, 바륨관장 검사 등으로 진단한다.
적절히 치료하지 않으면 장이 천공될 수 있고 사망할 수 있다.
