신생아 테타니에 관해에서 이미 설명했다.
여기서는 미숙 신생아의 테타니에 관해 더 설명한다.
칼슘의 신진대사에 관해서 간단히 우선 설명하면, 체중이 작으면 작을수록, 더 미숙하면 미숙할수록, 미숙 신생아들의 부갑상선의 기능이 원활하지 못하다.
인과 칼슘의 혈 중 농도가 필요 이상으로 높을 때는 신장이 인과 칼슘을 걸러서 소변 속으로 적절히 배출시켜 혈 중 칼슘의 농도와 인의 농도를 정상 레벨로 유지시키는 것이 정상 생리이다.
여러 가지 이유로 혈 중 인의 농도가 정상 이상으로 높아질 때는 핏속의 칼슘 농도가 정상 이하로 낮아지는 것이 보통이다.
혈 중 칼슘 농도가 7.5mg이거나 그 이하면 저칼슘혈증이 있다고 진단 할 수 있다.
저칼슘혈증으로 나타날 수 있는 증상 징후의 하나가 테타니이다.
난산으로 태어난 미숙 신생아, 1형 당뇨병이 있는 엄마에게 태어난 미숙 신생아에게 테타니가 더 잘 발생될 수 있다.
그 외 다른 원인으로도 미숙 신생아에게 테타니가 생길 수 있다.
증상 징후, 진단, 치료는 만삭 신생아에게 생기는 테타니와 거의 같다.
