고양이가 할퀴거나 물릴 때 묘조병에 걸릴 수 있다.

고양이가 물리거나 할퀴거나 또는 고양이와 같이 놀 때 바르토넬라 헨셀라(Bartonella henselae)균이 사람에게 전염되어 림프절을 비롯한 신체 각 부위에 감염 되서 생긴 감염병을 고양이 할큄병, 고양이 할큄열, 고양이 긁힘병, 묘조병 또는 묘소병이라고 한다.
고양이에 물리면 고양이 할큄병 이외 파스퇴렐라(Pasteuella)균, 포도상구균, Capnocytophagia 균종, 모락셀라(Moraxella)균, 코리네박테리움균, 또는 나이세리아균 중 한종류 박테리아 또는 여러 종류의 박테리아에 감염될 수 있다.
이런 감염은 고양이 할큄병(묘조병)이라 하지 않는다.
묘조병은 아이들에게서 비교적 흔히 생길 수 있는 박테리아 감염병의 일종이다.
고양이에 물리거나 할퀼 때 이 병이 주로 발생되나 드물게는 개로부터 같은 병원체가 전염될 수 있다.

고양이 할큄병(묘조병)의 증상 징후

묘조병의 잠복기는 5∼50일이다.
이 병이 아급성(亞急性)으로 진행될 때가 더 많다.
전형적인 증상 징후들은 미열 내지 고열이 날 수 있고 피로·권태감 등의 증상 징후가 있을 수 있다.
림프절염·피부 발진·결막염 등의 합병증이 생길 수 있다.
고양이에 할퀸 피부에 빨간 구진이 생길 수 있고 조금 가려울 수 있다.
그 후 2∼3일 경 할퀸 신체 부위 근처에 있는 림프절이 붓거나 곪을 수 있다.
목·겨드랑이·가랑이·얼굴·귀 주위 있는 림프절 중 한두 개의 림프절이 곪는 경우가 가장 흔하다.
어떤 때는 곪은 림프절이 골프 공 크기만큼 커질 수 있고 만지면 아플 수 있다.
묘소병으로 턱 밑이나 겨드랑이에 있는 림프절이 붓거나 염증이 생기는 경우가 가장 흔하다.
묘소병으로 부은 림프절은 1∼2개월 동안 계속 붓다가 자연히 낫는 경우가 많다.
때로는 곪은 림프절 적출수술로 치료해야 완치될 수 있다.
미열이나 고열이 수일 동안 또는 2∼3주 동안 계속 날 수 있고 구토·두통·근육통의 증상 징후가 생길 수 있다.
드물게는 묘조병 뇌염도 생길 수 있다.

묘조병의 진단 치료

병력·증상 징후·진찰소견 등을 종합해서 이 병이 의심되면 묘조병 항원 항체검사, IFA 검사등으로 진단할 수 있다.
타이레놀 등으로 해열과 진통 시킨다.
박트림, 리팜핀, Doxycycline, Erythromycin, 또는 Azithromycin 등의 항생제로 치료하기도 한다.
