라이 증후군 Reye syndrome

라이 증후군의 개요와 원인

뇌와 간에 병변이 생기고 그에 따라 여러 가지 증상 징후가 생기는 병을 라이 증후군이라고 한다.
원인은 아직 확실히 모른다.
인플루엔자바이러스 감염병이나 수두바이러스 감염병을 앓는 중이나 그런 병을 앓고 난 바로 후에 라이 증후군이 생길 수 있다.
그 때문에 라이 증후군은 바이러스 감염병에 관련된 병이라고 추정한다.
특히 수두, B형 인플루엔자 바이러스 감염병, 인플루엔자 유사 감염병 등을 앓을 때 아스피린으로 치료받으면 이 병이 발생되기 쉽다.
1970년대에는 라이 증후군이 다소 보고됐지만 그 때보다 최근 흔치 않게 발생된다.
저자는 1970년도 예일대학 병원에서 한 케이스를 보았다.

라이 증후군의 증상 징후

라이 증후군이 발생되기 전에 열을 동반한 바이러스 상기도염이나 수두를 앓았던 병력이 있는 것이 보통이다.
그런 병이 다 나아갈 때쯤에 구토, 기면, 혼동, 환각, 흥분, 혼수, 경련 등이 갑자기 나타나면서 불과 몇 시간 내지 며칠 사이에 뇌염과 간부전증이 생긴다.
그로 인해 사망할 수 있다.
때로는 라이 증후군은 경미하게 나타나기도 하고 완전 회복되기도 한다.

라이 증후군의 진단

병력, 증상 징후, 진찰소견 등을 종합해서 이 병이 의심되면, 피검사 특히 간 기능검사와 뇌 척수액검사 등을 하고 간과 뇌의 CT 스캔 검사나 MRI 검사 등으로 진단한다.

라이 증후군의 치료

이 병 치료에 특효약은 없고 그때그때의 증상에 따라 대증 치료한다.

Overview and causes of Reye’s syndrome

• Reye syndrome is a disease in which lesions of the brain and liver develop, resulting in various symptoms.

• The cause is still unknown.

• Reye’s syndrome may develop during or shortly after having an influenza virus infection or chicken pox virus infection.

• For that reason, it is assumed that Reye’s syndrome is related to viral infectious diseases.

• Especially, when you have chickenpox, influenza B virus infectious disease, or influenza-like infectious disease, the disease is more likely to occur when treated with aspirin.

• Reye’s syndrome was reported somewhat in the 1970s, but it is less common in recent years than then.

• The author saw a case at Yale University Hospital in 1970.

Symptoms signs of Reye’s syndrome

• It is common to have a history of viral upper respiratory tract infection or chickenpox with fever before Reye’s syndrome developed.

• Vomiting, lethargy, confusion, hallucinations, excitement, lethargy, and convulsions suddenly appear by the time the disease is over, resulting in encephalitis and liver failure within only a few hours to a few days.

• It can lead to death.

• Sometimes Reye’s syndrome is mild and recovers completely.

Diagnosis of Reye’s syndrome
