뇌파검사 Electroencephalography (EEG)

  • 간질을 지랄병, 간질 질환, 간질성 경련(Epilepsy/epileptic seizure)이라고도 한다.
  • 병력, 증상, 징후, 검진 등을 종합해 간질을 진단하는 것이 보통이다. 뇌파검사를 해서 간질을 진단하는데 도움을 얻을 수 있다.
  • 간질의 종류를 감별하는 데 뇌파검사가 도움 될 수 있다.
  • 처음 경련을 한 후 통상적으로 뇌파검사를 하면 7~34%에서 비정상적 뇌파검사의 결과가 나타난다.
  • 경련을 한 후 24시간 이내 한 뇌파검사의 51%에서 비정상 뇌파가 나온다.
  • 간질로 경련을 했던 경우, 수면 중 뇌파검사나 반복적 수면 결핍 뇌파검사를 하면 그 결과가 비정상으로 나타나든지 정상적으로 나타나는 확률이 많기 때문에 진단가치가 더 많다.
  • 때로는 뇌파검사가 비정상적이지만 간질 경련을 현재나 과거에 한 번도 해본 적이 없을 수 있고 그와 반대로 간질 경련을 하고 있지만 뇌파검사결과가 정상일 수 있다.
  • 간질을 진단할 때 보통으로 검사하는 뇌파검사로 간질을 확실히 진단할 수 없으면 병원에서나 병원 외에서 계속 비디오 뇌파검사를 하면 뇌파가 비정상적인지 정상적인지 뇌파검사 결과가 더 잘 나타날 수 있다.
  • 그 때문에 간질로 생긴 경련인지 아닌지 진단하는 데 요즘 계속 비디오 뇌파검사를 더 많이 한다.
  • 의식이 있다 없다하면서 하는 간질로 경련을 하는 경우 뇌파검사를 하면 거의가 비정상 뇌파검사 결과가 나타난다. 참조문헌 Consultant for pediatricians, November 2008.

Electroencephalography (EEG) 뇌파검사

Epilepsy is also referred to as jerk disease, epilepsy disease, epileptic seizure (epilepsy/epileptic seizure). It is common to diagnose epilepsy by combining medical history, symptoms, symptoms, and examination. EEG can be done to help diagnose epilepsy.

Electroencephalography may be helpful in determining the type of epilepsy. After the first convulsion, normal EEG results show abnormal EEG results in 7-34%.

Abnormal EEG appears in 51% of EEG tests within 24 hours after convulsion. In the case of convulsions due to epilepsy, if the EEG test during sleep or the repeated sleep deficiency EEG test is performed, the diagnostic value is higher because the result is abnormal or has a high probability of appearing normally. Sometimes the EEG is abnormal, but he may not have had epileptic seizures in the present or in the past.

Conversely, he or she may have epileptic seizures, but the EEG results may be normal. When diagnosing epilepsy, if epilepsy cannot be clearly diagnosed with normal EEG, if you continue to perform video EEG at a hospital or outside the hospital, EEG results may be better to see if EEG is abnormal or normal.

Because of that, more and more video EEG tests these days are used to diagnose whether or not seizures caused by epilepsy. In the case of convulsions due to epilepsy, which is said to be unconscious, most of them show abnormal EEG results when performing an EEG.
